The various puzzles and collectibles in the Lego Dimensions worlds are usually dependent on a certain character or vehicle ability. For example, only Unikitty can destroy rainbow bricks and only Peter Venkman can suspend ghosts to be trapped. These limited abilities usually aren’t a big deal for completist collectors who need to have every pack, but not every player out there purchases everything, weighing their options with each pack and how they might contribute to their gameplay goals.
It now looks like certain Year 1 abilities are about to get a wider character pool to select from! In a recent live stream by IGN live from Gamescom (video below), the team toured the Harry Potter adventure world, eventually coming upon a Gyrosphere Switch on a snowy hill.
Instead of dropping down the Gyropshere vehicle from the Jurassic World team pack, they switched to Jake (the dog) who has a “Zorb” alternate form allows him to roll around and unlock the switch!
This is exciting news for folks who limited their collection to as few packs as possible. It looks like Year 2 will allow you to go back into some older levels and worlds and unlock content you might not have had the character for.
Other live streams have shown that Jake and Finn have multiple cross over abilities like Vine Cut and Drilling! Hopefully this is a sign that restricted abilities from Year 1 may be more widespread among characters in Year 2! We can’t wait to get our hands on these packs to start playing!
